In conflict-affected zones where there is limited health infrastructure and where health systems and the health workforce are slowly rebuilding, emergency transportation is key to accessing quality and timely health care for pregnant women. This requires collaboration and communication between health care workers, in order to optimize the use of available healthcare services including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care.
To ensure integration of the app technology into existing workflows, Women and Health Alliance (WAHA) is working with Amplify to engage users (including primary health care workers and emergency transportation personnel) in the design and development of a systemized and algorithm-based decision-making tool for triage and referral of emergency obstetric cases. By facilitating channels of communication between health care workers, WAHA can ensure that emergency vehicles and services can respond to critical cases with pinpoint accuracy which is expected to reduce delays in care and improve maternal and infant health outcomes.
